At last we enter the Corinth Canal, in the wake of this coaster. (Watch out for the 'washing machine effect'!)
It's closed on Tuesdays for repairs...
We took a v. frequent ferry from Aegina Island to Athens
First stop the Acropolis, on a Saturday ... Jammed!
And under serious repair.
The sheer scale of the 2500 year old Parthenon on the Acropolis is awe-inspiring
The view from above over Athens is both awesome and overwhelming by its sprawl
The ferry back past as many ships at anchor you are likely ever to see for a long time!
(As seen on AIS)

Our last morning on the dock of Aegina town, Aegina Is. The first capital of 'modern' Greece. We liked this place a LOT!

Our sail back in to Athens for essential parts and repairs gave us an unusual sight under spinnaker... A Greek sub!

Everyone probably has heard of the changing of the guard outside the Parliament building, but Monty Python has nothing on this for the ministry of silly walks

We spent hours in the National museum of archeology. This is Zeus, a 2500 year old bronze statue (Classical era). Wow!
The basement had a whole garden of marble statues found on the seabed at various times - this is the action of 2000 years of salt water. They should have anti-fouled!

The piece de resistance for us both. Sheer fear in the infant jockey's face!

The Egyptian collection was most interesting showing how the Romans subjugated the 3000+ year old sacred symbols of the time of the Pharaohs to becoming a cross between gods and (Roman) emperors. Our old friend Octavius Augustus was actually made a Pharaoh.

After leaving Athens, all missions accomplished (apart from a good night out!) we specially went back to Aegina Island to anchor off, to see this amazingly complex temple to the nymph Aphaea.

Finally, we leave the Saronikos gulf passing by the (North) temple of Poseidon, with the new temple of 3G top left; destined for the Cyclades Islands. The good weather and fair winds continue. Thanks Poseidon!!
